Formed after returning from a trip to New Orleans (Louisiana, USA), cradle of Jazz, rock-and-roll and Funk, the Krewe du Belge brings together musicians who are inspired by this extraordinary city and its unique, positive and inclusive way of creating Culture.

Belgian-New Orleans jazz funk

The particularity of Krewe du Belge is the Gumbo (the mixture) of this music, both Trad and Funk, with our Belgian folklore. It could indeed be that a Second Line turns into "Ça plane pour moi" or that the musicians sing a "Chef un p'tit verre, on a soif" when the break comes.

A tribute to "Second Lines"

This form of jazz has its roots in the typical processions of New Orleans, which mix the rhythms of military marches with the electric and free style of the soloists. The result? Joyful improvised sounds, a gentle madness that makes you want to dance. And total freedom of movement for the musicians, who can wander or settle down in a place depending on the atmosphere and the request.

Exceptional Belgian musicians

Behind the masks are exceptional musicians, including some stars of Belgian Jazz. The aim of Krewe du Belge is to promote quality live music above all. It is a fanfare with variable geometry, with between 8 and 25 artists.

Make way for women

The Belgian Krewe Captain is a woman, and we encourage female representation in the music scene. We even wrote a song about it: "Femmes".

3 albums

Since its creation, Krewe du Belge has recorded 3 albums, which you can find in our shop . Our label is Step By records , by Stéphane Mercier.

Technical sheet

Good news, on a technical level, Krewe du Belge is 100% autonomous. The instruments are acoustic, and a mobile sound system amplifies the voices. The result is surprising because few brass bands are able to play, sing and tell stories while moving.
